The platform renovation, track, ballast and track equipment renewal work and the renovation of the rail hub have been performed by EIFFAGE RAIL and La FOREZIENNE in closed-line conditions since 20th November 2017.
Site Safety Services and Railway Activities are responsible for the various safety-related tasks (work train control, work site management, guidance of site and road machinery, level crossing control) as well as for driving the work trains.
Edit: 15th November 2017 Arrival at the Saintes – Royan line (closed for works) of the train with the tamping machine and the ballast cars. Since it was one of the few locomotives that we have had time to spray down, we thought it right and proper to mark the occasion (… of seeing a clean locomotive). We’re keeping our fingers crossed – so far everything is on track!
Edit: 13th February 2018 – The sun is back!
Far from the snowy wastes of northern France, far from the torrential rains that mark the change of year, work on the site is starting again full of energy and vigour under a smiling sun. The earthworks are moving forward at speed. The organisation, consisting of SNCF, Pichenot, SFERIS and ERS, is now able to lay slightly less than 1.5 km of track per day using lightweight equipment. We are all concentrating on the date 19/03 for the end of the works so that we can give the users back the line they deserve. However, it will still be necessary to wait until the checks and (re)commissioning procedures have been completed.
